Nine Months And Counting

P.S. I totally forgot about the girls 9 month check up at the beginning of the month!  Thankfully it was a painless visit as they didn't get any shots this time - a welcome change!  They're meeting all their developmental milestones except for Poppy and her lack of talking.  So we're tasked with using her pacifier less, which she doesn't use all that much to begin with, and continue to talk and read to her all the time.  She can grunt back and forth with us though with no problem so it's just a matter of time before words will start spilling out of her mouth too.

Poppy weighed 17lb 3oz and was 26.5in long.  That equates to 30% for weight and 10% for height.  Evie weighed 16lb 8oz ad was 27in ong.  That equates to 25% for weight and 20% for height.  It's so funny to have babies in the lower percentiles since Esme and Chan were always busting out at 75-95th percentile.  Little chunks that they were!  Evie would have weighed more if it wasn't for the stomach bug she had last month but we're hopeful she'll catch up again soon.

I found this in Esme's room.  So sweet!

Evie's got enough hair for a sprout!

Welcome 2017

It doesn't seem like we've done much this year to report on but it seems like it's time to update the blog again :)  The kids are all back in school and daycare and transitioned well.  We've cleared out all the holiday decorations from the house which happened just in time as the babies are getting more and more mobile by the day.  They crawl all over the house, up and down the one step to the tv room and the living room, and are getting more and more curious as they go.  They're great at finding mommy and Mimi's long hair on the carpet and any other tiny objects.  Yuck!  Eve loves to communicate with people and also loves to imitate faces and sounds.  She's so endearing when she's in the mood which makes up for her otherwise cranky moods especially in the middle of the night.  Ever since she got sick last month we've had a hard time getting her back to a good sleep schedule and so Allen and I feel like walking zombies most of the time.  It's rough.  Ideally we'd have her cry it out and get back to where she was at but that's just not possible with 3 other sleeping children in the house.  And so we just keep waiting for things to right themselves again.  Poppy on the other hand is sleeping good and wakes just once usually.  She can sleep through the night and we're waiting for her to get back there too.  Nursing is always the magic trick and puts them back to sleep no matter what in the middle of the night and so we continue the cycle...

Poppy isn't doing any talking yet but she can wave hi and clap her hands when we ask her to.  She likes to grunt and yell at us if we're not feeding her fast enough.  Speaking of food, she LOVES solid foods.  Both of them do but usually Poppy is the one shoveling her face cause she can't get enough.

Oh we had some visitors recently!  The Patoc's visited us from Seattle and we had so much fun connecting with old friends!  Esme was super excited to stay with them in their hotel and reconnect with her best friend Addy.  She keeps asking to go to a hotel again.  That girl!  Not sure when we'll get to Seattle again but hopefully it's not too long before we see them again.

And the twins, Nana, and I went on a short trip to Oahu last week and they got to enjoy the hotel life while I had a conference to attend.  The girls are getting to be good travelers.  We'll be all set for Ko'olina this summer!

A morning stroll with the babes.

Discussing the great big world out there.

Laundry baskets make great play toys.

Eve's slowly gaining her strength back after getting sick last month.

Poppy sure has grown.  These pics are about 6 months apart.

The Patoc's and Chow-Barker's came over to dinner.  So many kids!

Evie is such a big girl.

Car wash day!  We put the girls in the playpen in the front yard and get to work as fast as we can.

Starting them young.

Chan modeling his new "Seattle Jayhawks" socks.  The Jayhawks are daddy's favorite team from Kansas and obviously Chan confuses them with the Seahawks.
