Little Lego Girl

Esme's favorite toy these days are the big Lego's (for little hands) she got for Christmas.  She loves building towers and houses the most.  We thought these might make her more interested in her Mega Blocks but she definitely prefers her Duplo Lego's over anything else.  We ordered another set so she can build more and she was very excited about that.  Here's a pic of her and daddy wearing the Lego boxes on their heads.

Esme ended up getting a pretty good cold last week, enough to even keep her out of school.  Luckily school was closed on Monday for MLK Day, then Tuesday she's usually off with me, but on Wednesday she still wasn't 100% so Allen took a sick day to stay home and help her get a little better.  By Thursday she was more than ready to get back to school.  Ms Faye said they missed her so much.  Apparently she's talking up a storm over there too - "Mimi this" and "Mimi that" all the time.  They said she loves to go outside even in the cold weather and when she sits on the potty she loves to sing a song to everyone.

Her appetite was down last week but she was good about staying hydrated.  Now she seems to be turning the corner and her new favorite foods are honey roasted peanuts and red bell peppers.  Not together of course but she always amazes us with what she tries and likes.  Her sleep was also off and it's slowly working back to normal.  She would get up in the middle of the night for no reason and be wide awake.  I thought it was because she was hungry but she wasn't all that interested in food.  Made for some long nights for Allen and I :)

I'm 26 weeks pregnant now and everything is still going smoothly.  I passed my glucose test last weekend and will have my next check up at 29 weeks.  Normally I'd go at 28 weeks but Esme and I will be in Hawaii then.  She's excited to see all her cousins again and for some warm weather.  I've been collecting all kinds of distractions for the plane ride and layover in Oahu so she doesn't go stir crazy being confined for so long.

Influenza

Unfortunately the blog has taken a backseat in our lives over the past few weeks.  I was attacked by the awful flu that's been going around this season and wasn't able to do a thing.  I had my flu shot at the same time as Esme but I think this pregnancy has weakened my immune system quite a bit.  While it was the worst illness I've ever had I still think it was a real mild case compared to what I've seen and I think that the flu shot helped me out a bit.  I was barely able to move for almost a week so Allen had to take over with Esme and luckily neither of them have gotten it so far.  We thought we'd give Esme some Tamiflu prophylactically but she hates the medicine so we stopped.

Esme's learned to jump and get both feet off the floor at the same time.  She's so intrigued with this new move that she loves to jump all over the place and show off.  And according to Ms Faye, Esme's very good at pronouncing her words in Mandarin and she's also mastering her tones well.  Her little sentences are getting longer and longer as she tells Allen and I what to do.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant now and still feeling great.  At our last appointment with the midwife the baby's heart rate was in the 150s and it was moving all over the place.  By our next appointment they should be able to feel how the baby is lying in my belly.  At our 20 week ultrasound the baby was breach but I was reassured that we don't worry about this till closer to the 36 week mark.  I just had my 2 hour glucose test yesterday and should hear the results of that test this coming week.

Every morning Esme requests "two ponies" and so that's her new favorite hairdo :)

Happy New Year

We celebrated the New Year very peacefully since we were all sleeping when 2013 rolled around.  I had to work on the eve and so Allen was home with Esme that day.  That evening we even attempted to have a nice dinner with all three of us but Esme wasn't too interested in the king crab legs or the filet mignon.  At most she liked to poke the crab shell and make funny faces at it.  Her favorite part of the evening was the little glass of juice we gave her since she never gets that.  She kept asking for more :)  Our neighborhood wasn't too loud at midnight and so Esme wasn't bothered by the sporadic fireworks that went off.

On January 2nd Esme went back to daycare after their winter break and she was sooooooooooooo happy!  She walked into Ms Faye's house all stunned like she didn't believe the place still existed.  Then she kept pointing to all her friends, saying their names and smiling ear to ear.  I could barely get her to kiss me goodbye because she was so distracted that morning.  We thought she'd be worn out that afternoon but she was her normal self so I think she was just glad to get back to her normal routine at school.

Having dinner with her friend Addy.  They both wanted to face each other.

Wearing her new traning underwear.  She likes to run all over the house in them.  Most of the time we just put them over her diaper since she's not quite there yet :)
